  Entre el 2016 y 2018,   América Latina vivió protestas y manifestacione s de grupos conservadores contra políticas como el reconocimiento del matrimonio igualitario, la identidad de género y la incorporación de educación sexual y reproductiva en libros de texto escolares. Su impacto en la política ha forzado cambios de timón en las políticas públicas, sin embargo, la pandemia y la crisis políticas que ha sufrido la región han frenado el avance conservador.
